A water damaged ceiling can be a real eyesore. Once you’ve found and repaired the source of the water damage, it’s time to replace the damaged roof tile. To start with, first of all make sure, you have all the things required to accomplish the task. Like, for example, you’ll need a brush, towel, bleach, primer and paint. Have them all before getting into the task.

Firstly, remove the affected tile and keep it on a surface that will not be affected by the bleach and paint. Now, apply a mixture of one part of water and one part of bleach on the stained surface of the tile. Scrub the stained portion hard. This will remove the stain.

In addition to this, examine the type of your roofing tile. If you have tile made up of absorbent material, take care you do not over damp the tile.

Coat a layer of primer over ceiling tile. Kilz is a popular brand that is used by many for this purpose, but you can use the primer of your choice. Applying primer on the tile will keep the stain inside and will not allow it to seep out.

Allow the primer to dry for at least 24 hours. After ensuring, the primer has properly dried you can proceed with the next step. In case, the entire roof tiles are not pure white, you can paint the repaired tile to match the tile with the existing ones. Give another 24 hours to the tile for its drying up.

Covering the ceiling leaks doesn’t mean, you need to be a roofer, homeowners can easily install them. However, if someone feels uncomfortable with this home improvement project, roofer can be called for.
