Utilizing Solar Power For The Home Appliances

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Solar batteries store the solar energy from the sun inside them to use that energy at a later span of time. Solar batteries get charged through a solar panel. Actually, solar panel charges the internal battery pack that can be used when needed. The market is full of different kinds of solar batteries and panels. Make sure that you get the best quality product at cheapest price.

The smaller version of these batteries is used to power up the cell phones, laptops, PDA etc. These batteries allow them to run for hours when fully charged. Many of the batteries have universal connectors along with them so that you can use them with the product you want to.

Some of the solar chargers provide you with the facility of an extra holder for a standard battery. With the help of this battery holder, you can charge a set of standard Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad) batteries. When they are fully charged, you can employ them to work again. You just have to put a set of discharged batteries into the unit and put the whole unit or the solar panels against the sun. Your batteries would again be recharged for reapplication.

Dimmer switches can create a good ambiance in dinning room or a home theater. Installing them is also not a cumbersome task. But before purchasing it, you should have a basic knowledge regarding them.

First fact about dimmer switches is that they can operate 120V incandescent bulbs and halogen bulbs but can not operate fluorescent bulbs and most compact fluorescent bulbs.

The basic reason behind this is that dimmer switches are meant to work with bulbs with wire filaments, which are present in 120V incandescent and halogen bulbs. On the other hand, fluorescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs contain a gas that requires certain amount of voltage to operate the light. Also for low voltage halogen bulbs, a special dimmer switch should be used.

Two different kinds of dimmer switches are: single pole and 3-way dimmer switches. A single pole dimmer switch can be operated from a single location or single switch. A 3-way dimmer switch can be operated from two different switches located at different locations but out of two, only one is dimmer switch.

To notify whether a circuit is passing current or not, just insert the leads or metal probes of the device into the concerned plug. Keep in mind that the red wire is inserted into the positive terminal and the black one into the negative terminal. As soon as a glow in the neon bulb is noticed, the presence of current is confirmed. In case the neon bulb doesn’t illuminate then the electricity-deprived state of the circuit is indicated.
